China Unicom to open WCDMA equipment tender (Jan 14)

China Unicom plans to launch its first WCDMA network equipment tender within the next seven days and to commence offering WCDMA services in mid-May, a China Unicom source told Interfax on Jan. 12.

"Our technology assessment has been completed and the tender will be opened around a week from now," the source at China Unicom's network planning department, who wished not to be identified, said.
