China Unicom to invest over 20 bln yuan in GSM network upgrade (Mar 7)

China Unicom plans to invest over 20 bln yuan to upgrade its Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network.

However, China Unicom has no plans to raise funds ahead of the telecom industry reshuffle and the issue of 3G licenses.
