As an information newsletter, the Bi-weekly China Economic Headlines is a service of the Trade Representative’s Office at the Embassy of Israel in Beijing and we hope it will help you keep up-to-date with recent developments and trends in the rapidly evolving Chinese economy.

During the recent decade, China's economy developed at an unprecedented rate, and China has become one of the world's major economic powers with the greatest potential, and the overall living standard has reached that of a fairly well-off society. In the year 2007, the gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to around US$3,417 billion, 11.4 percent higher than the previous year.
